The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Incorporated in 1904 under the laws of the state of South Dakota, the company purposed to buy and sell land. It was apparently closely affiliated with the South Dakota Central Railway Company, with which it shared many corporate directors. The company may have existed to dispose of the railway's land holdings, since the land company's practice was to turn all land sale monies over to the railway.
